In spring of 2007, I became involved in the Hollins Community Garden. In the succeeding time, the garden has become a university recognized organization, expanded its membership and extended students' notions of responsibility and space.

Personally, the garden has been an architecture for realizing individual strengths and weaknesses. I comprehend the value of self-sufficiency and community building.

Forgotten vegetables will grow. The garden is the materialization of the chambers of thought in this world, the place that gives perspective. An architecture that sets up obstacles, in order to confront us with emotional, mental and practical barriers. It is a manifestation of the ideal, of dreams and desires and thoughts, which is, in itself, also the place of the imagination. As a measure of the world it takes us in resonance.
